We have started using a multi-day wrap in most cases. But will still do the traditional method for smaller, less detailed pieces. And for those who have any allergies to adhesives, or who just don’t want to use it. You may also go with the traditional healing method.
(See info below)
Traditional Aftercare.
A temporary wrap will be applied to the area that will stay on for 1-2 hours.
After 1-2 hours, remove the wrap in a clean environment, with clean hands.
Wash your new tattoo thoroughly with antibacterial hand soap and warm water for about 2-3 minutes. (x2 per day for the first 3 days)
Pat dry with a clean paper towel, or let it air dry.
Do Not apply any lotions or creams for the first 2-3 days. Once your tattoo starts to become itchy, you may start applying a thin layer of unscented lotion 2-3 times per day for about 5 days.
It is very important not to oversaturate your new tattoo with lotion, as that will cause your tattoo to heal poorly.
Touch ups: The first touch up is free within the first 3 months of receiving your tattoo. After that you will be charged our hourly rate to touch up work. So please, take care of your new tattoo.
Recovery Derm Shield
Derm Shield is a breathable wrap that protects your new tattoo from dirt and germs. It uses old Egyptian methods of healing. By locking in your body’s natural healing fluids your tattoo stays hydrated and heals quickly and efficiently. While reduced scabbing and scarring.
You must leave the Derm Shield wrap on for 5-7 days.
Once it is time to remove the Derm Shield wrap, make sure you remove it in the shower. Under warm running water pulling in a downward motion.Once the bandage is removed. Make sure to wash your tattoo thoroughly with antibacterial soap until you no longer feel that layer of plasma. This is the most important part. So, wash your tattoo very well.
Next, make sure to pat dry with a clean paper towel. Or let it air dry.
Now make sure to keep your tattoo as dry as possible, if you notice any plasma coming to the surface, wash it immediately. Keeping the plasma from drying on your new tattoo will help alleviate the formation of scabs.Do not apply any lotions, creams, or ointments for at least 2-3 days after you remove the wrap!
2-3 days after removing the wrap, you may begin applying a thin layer of unscented lotion. Or coconut oil. 1-2 times a day.
